This is in memory of my late mother, Mother Celestial (Mrs) Florence Olomu who passed away two years ago.

The Tutu Foundation UK has been in existence since 2007 to continue the inspiring and transforming reconciliation work of Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Mrs Leah Tutu. The mission of the foundation is to transform lives and communities by building respect, understanding and connections between people of different backgrounds and generations.

The Desmond Tutu Foundation has many programmes but the one program close to my heart is the Conversation for Change (C4C).

Key aims of the C4C programme are:

·         To develop an understanding of anger and conflict in relation to self and the community and begin a process of transformation;

·         To establish and explore the idea that we can be human only together – that we are all interconnected and are incomplete if we do not pay attention to each other’s needs and wellbeing;

· To support the participants to develop achievable projects to bring people together and address conflict in their communities.

C4C draws on techniques used in the reconciliation work of Archbishop Desmond Tutu in South Africa and Northern Ireland, bringing international understanding and experience of peace-building to UK communities. In particular, the Southern African philosophy of ubuntu underpins the educational content of the workshops.

Ubuntu emphasises our common humanity, promoting values of respect, diversity and interdependence. It appeals to people of all backgrounds and those of all faiths or none. As such, it is an excellent community development tool, promoting good citizenship, reconciliation and understanding in today’s multi-cultural, multi-faith British society.

I first met the Archbishop when he came to Croydon last year for “An Evening with Desmond Tutu”. I was introduced to him because of the work I do in the community. At the meeting I promised him that my next charitable project would be to create awareness and raise funds for his charity.

I was really inspired by the sincerity and purpose of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, for the work he is doing. He is a wonderful man full of warmth and huge laugh. Archbishop Tutu continues to campaign vigorously for human rights throughout the world. He speaks out on a variety of issues including the plight of Zimbabweans under the regime of Robert Mugabe and the lack of progress on treating HIV/AIDs in South Africa.

Taking part in the sky diving event is my little way of contributing to the C4C ethos. To use the words of the Archbishop Desmond Tutu, ‘Do your little bit of good where you are; its those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.’

If you would like to sponsor me, kindly send by return email the amount and I will contact you to collect your funds after the skydiving on Friday 26th August 2011.

National Mirror - Dayo Olomu: Motivating to higher heights

National Mirror - Dayo Olomu: Motivating to higher heights

Dayo Olomu, an Award Winning MC, Toastmaster & People like my late mother never saw anything good about show business, she believed that the people in the business were failures and never do well, she did everything to discourage me and make me leave the business, but I could not because that was and is where my heart has always been.

We toiled day and night to see a Buoyant, Vibrant, Exciting and Possibly Rewarding Entertainment industry in Nigeria. Despite the fact that our needs could not be met at that time, with the meager resources at our disposal, a lot of us migrated on to other things, not because we loved to leave the business, but because there were bills to be paid and no one was getting younger.

We were all eager to see a very thriving industry that could make Stars and Millionaires, we worked from the depth of our heart from our different areas of interest, there were amongst us professional Artiste Managers, Promoters, Entertainment Journalists, etc. We did everything to support the industry that is today booming and we are happy that an industry that we worked hard for has finally become a reality (our prayers and intent)

What we could not get at that time in the industry, that made us ‘RUN FOR COVER’ today has become a goldmine, today, people receive Awards and Accolades. It is how- ever interesting to know that the music industry has forgotten or possibly do not even recognise/ know that such people ever existed or contributed anything to the Nigerian Entertainment industry /Business.

I salute the courage of the following people who toiled day and night to make the entertainment industry today what it now is, Kudos to them.
Kent Uche-Professional Artiste manager(RAS KIMONO), Femi-Akintunde Johnson(FAJ)-Fearless Entertainment journalist (PUNCH),Azuka jebose(punch)kunle Bakare-Exciting Entertainment/Society writer(CLASSIQUE), Mayor Akinpelu(VINTAGE PEOPLE), Amadi Ogbonaya workaholic Entertainment writer(VANGUARD), Dapo Adelegan(my boss)-Pioneer of music concerts in Nigeria(LEKKI SUNSPLASH) Dele Aberuagba(LAGOS WEEKEND), Charles Okogene(LAGOS WEEKEND), Dayo Olomu)PREMIER MUSIC), Morgan Okunuga)IVORY MUSIC), Tony Alenkhe(SONY MUSIC), Chris Nwandu(SONY MUSIC), Perdo Okogie(ONYEKA ONWENUS MANAGER), Sola Adewunmi(NTA), Edi lawani(PMAN), Yinka Agboola(FAME), Gideon NwanmuMANAGER TO CHRIS HANEM) ,Wale Olomu (OF BLESSED MEMEORY)(FAME), Uche Okwosa(DP LEKKI) ,Jude Arijaje(PUNCH), Sheriff Aderounmu(ADEWALE AYUBAs MANAGER), late Jelili Shorungbe(OBERSEREs Manager) , Stagger- lee(RADIO DJ), Femi Davies(TODAYS CHOICE), Segun Banjo(FAME),Tope Akinyele(SONY MUSIC), Tunde kolawole(PUNCH), Tunde Aremu(PUNCH), Alex ogundadegbe(PUNCH), Jumoke Giwa(HINTS), Niyi Akinsiju(TODAYS CHOICE), Mike Adande(POISE/SUNDAY TIMES),Gabriel Omohinmi(LAGOS WEEKEND),Richard Eghage(WHISPERS), Fearless Moji Danisa of climax, and Kayode Ajala of Hints magazine.

Others are Smart Ariwodo(CHAMPION),Halim Mohammed(Today’s choice)May Ellen Ezekiel MEE(CLASSIQUE) Ejiro René adigbo(classique)Billy Adedamola(Today’s choice)Dele Momodu (concord/classique),Muka Popola(Today’s choice),Osa Irabor(Today’s choice),Gboyega Okegbenro(Lagos weekend) , Muyiwa Adetiba (Godfather of soft sell ), Coker Onita (publisher Today’s choice), Sunny Ojeagbase(Publisher Climax)mike Effiong(Fame), Dayo Asaju(fame)Soji Oyinlola( Today’s choice),Babs Adegbenjo(Hints),Al Humphrey(Climax),Yemi oladehinde(fame)Femi Adepoju(classique), Alvan Ewuzie(Champion), Nat Osewele ( concord), Ose Oyemaden(Concord)Akin Ibisagba(climax)Lanre Ijaola(climax)late Hakeem Ikandu (Today’s choice),Kolosa Kargbo, Tope Olukole(tribune) Thomas Peretu( Lagos weekend/premier music, Biola Ogunduyile(punch) kazie uko (evening times)

Mention must also be made of the likes of Olusesan Ekisola ,Mani onumonu ,Bisi Olatilo, kunle job ,electrifying Johnnie, dean of the old school, Jay a jay, tokunbo ojekunle, opeyemi fajemilehin, Danladi bako, and a whole lot whose names I cannot possibly remember

These people I boldly say are instrumental to the success of what we today have as a Vibrant Entertainment industry in Nigeria. At that time the likes of Dean Disi, Tony Okoroji, laolu Akins, Beautiful Mrs Keji Okunowo, Late Toma Mason, Bode Akinyemi, Mr Dairo, Papa Ajilo,Lemmy Jackson , Lemi Ghariokwu, Tunde Alabi-Hundeyin(dudu), Harry Mosco, Sunny Okosuns Christy Essien-Igbokwe,onyeka onwenu, practically called the shots in the Entertainment Industry/business.
Today we are happy to see Nigerian Musical acts ruling the airwaves LOCALLY and INTERNATIONALLY. They are winning International awards, which was impossible those days. we are happy to have 2face,Face,Backface,9ice,X-project,Daddy Show key, Tony Tettuila, Art quake, Soni Neji, Paul Play, Dare Art- Alade, Ojb ,Psquare, Sola Idowu(Weird Mc), Olu Maintain, kween, Obi won, Nigga-Raw,Timaya,Lord of Ajasa, D-banj,Asa, Sasha and a host of others.

The industry at that time had no money butfame, we were all very happy to be a part of the industry despite that fact that we did not make money which is now the major priority .At that time people were more concerned about making a success of what they did other than monetary gains, People spent their money to achieve their musical aim.

There was hardly any-form of sponsorships except for Coca-cola and Pepsi/seven-up, Artistes were paid peanuts to perform at concerts and events, yet they struggled to be on the bill, kudos must be given to the organisers of successful musical concerts like, Essien Akpabio, Arc Igehion of Aibtonia who organised several musical concerts and tours, sun-fun organised xmas concert led by Big ken and soul, not forgetting my Alma –matta,

The biggest musical concert in Nigeria, Lekki –sun splash led by the very creative and ever bubbling Dapo Adelegan, and the jeans carnival organised by the oshine brothers, These concerts provided the avenue for our musical acts to showcase their talents and also outdo each other with their stage acts, it was an exciting and interesting time for us all .Those days, there was nothing like CD performance, it was LIVE and DIRECT.

We had several acts and it was fun to be a part of the industry .People who were in the industry were there not because of making money, but for the true love of show- business. we had leading the pack, Terra Kota who released a monster hit-lamentation of Sodom, Pastor Chris okotie with the “I need someone “ fame, Felix liberty of the Ifeoma and Ngozi fame, Mike Okri- ,Rumba Style, Concert Fever and some chart bursting releases on Sony Music label ,Bolarinwa -(water music) fine boy who tried desperately but could not make a hit ,Boy Chickason -I love you mother(this guy was a lord at Tejosho market where he had a shop that sold 2nd hand cloths, this guy tried but ......,The Baddest Mama of Rock, Julie pip-coup de tat , in-fact where on earth are all these people, Alex zitto-of the tickle me/ walakolombo fame he was the 2nd runner up of the 1st Lekki talent hunt competition, Blackky of the Rosie fame, he was the winner of the Lekki sun splash Talent hunt competition, Vero marioghae of the Nigeria go survive fame ,Cecily omohinmi, little Boy Simon-war against Babylon , hard as he tried, no luck..

There was also Dready samiko- Jah leads on, very confident and organised musical act, he also did everything to make a hit but just didn’t make it to the top, Controversial Tina onwunde-(African oyinbo of blessed memory ),this charming lady took the music scene by storm, Chris Mba-Money hard as he tried he didn’t just jell, Segun Arinze-Dreams with his very interesting voice, tried the music business and didn’t work out , Segun has since Taken to acting ,Emphasis-Big deal, , a group of three young guys on premier music label , premier music did a good job on this guys without much success, franki lee-going to Africa, Isaac chinagorom-stay with me, a dancer turned music act, another disappointment, Donaldson madu Jnr-change the system ,he was a me too type musical act, Felix and Mossyz -free, they were an interesting act on premier music label, junior(late) and pretty, whose Bolanle Album rocked the airwaves, it was the 1st Nigerian pidgin rap, they were an exciting pair, late Peter-side Ottong-open invitation and two other albums to his credit, a banker turned musician, he left his banking job to face a music career, he did make an interesting impact on the scene too.

I can never forget Mc Skidoo- whose album universal Grandmaster refused to make it to the top, Duchess Maria-love experience was another disaster, this couple did everything possible without luck to get there, Tina and Prophet-No nonsense, Segun Awe-Afritonas , Desmond- the Dread Driver, The Marshall-shake a likkle, Francis Goldman-determined soul, Daniel Wilson-Mr Ragamuffin a huge success with other albums on his credit were all successful, ,Mandators-D storm another successful couple until trouble set into their marriage, victor has since relocated to the US.,Realyn Moff –lesson ,this lady had the full support of her father , but did not just jell ,, Chris Hanem (ozigizaga)-New dawn ,Oritis Willkie- Wadis Wada on premier label was a Big Hit, JM Bargie-no hanky panky had no luck in any way, there was also Isaac black who released omono zozo.

Those were the days when people in the industry saw themselves as one and supported each other to succeed, those were the days of the famous glamour boys OF the NITESHIFT COLLESUEM, it was a thing of pride to be a glamour boy, it was the times when the “BOYS” trip on a Friday from Lap arias to Debasco to Skindles and all retired to nightshift, it was fun all the way despite the fact that money was scarce.

There was healthy rivalry amongst the recording companies, namely premier music, EMI later became ivory music, Sony music, and tabansi music, they had responses to every evolving act and the industry thrived unlike now that there are hardly any proper music labels and companies, every musical act now has a label and is not very professional.

In the, Fuji Genre, there were Alhaji Agba,Sikiru ayide barrister (of Blessed memory) ,Ayinla Kollington,Salawa Abeni,King King Wasiu Ayinde marshal, (K1), Obesere, sandoka, Adewale Ayuba, shina akanni, rasheed ayinde, sefiu alao, tekoye, sunny –t(omona toko fuji) pasuma wonder, etc
In the juju category, they were led by the master guitarist, king Sunny Ade alongside Ebenezer Obey, Sir shina peters ,Dayo kujore ,Dele Taiwo ,micho ade, We had in the gospel area, the likes of Funmi aragbaye, good women choir, panam Percy Paul.

It is also important to also mention the unforgettable contribution of Baba of them all FELA ANIKULAPO KUTI, Who had a musical sons like Etienne T boy, Femi kuti, kola ogunkoya, and later Lagaja.

I must at this stage also mention the contributions of Alhaji Teju Kareem of Zmirage, who has contributed immensely to the growth of the business.
These people today are engaged in one form of business or the other when it was apparent that the entertainment industry was not as thriving as it has today become, but in my opinion, somebody somewhere should ask to know where these people that put so much to theindustry are today.

They did everything to give us in Nigeria an entertainment industry. Where on earth are you all? Where ever you all are and in whatever you have now found yourselves, please rise up for recognition.

DAYO OLOMU BAGS TWO PRESTIGIOUS ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS IN THE UK

Dayo Olomu, a leading motivational speaker, trainer, performance coach and bestselling author in the UK was last weekend bestowed with two new prestigious achievement awards to add to his impressive tally of laurels. He got an early jolt in life, when barely eight, his father died. From then life became a struggle. At 10 years old he acquired the thirst to achieve from hawking cold drinks and biscuits on the streets of Lagos to support his mother who sold all her personal belongings to send him to school. In Nigeria he had a varied and interesting career in the entertainment industry from being a Promotions Manager to an Artiste Manager.

To conquer poverty, which was his greatest fear when he was growing up, he relocated to London in January 1996 thinking that London’s roads are littered with gold and silver. When he arrived he was shocked to discover that a crook had stolen his birth certificate and used it to collect his National Insurance card, credit card, and even opened a bank account. He also discovered he was purportedly married except the crook forgot to invite him. Everywhere he went, he was told somebody was bearing his name. At a stage the authorities did not know who the real Dayo Olomu was. With a strong desire to succeed backed with action, self belief and his faith, he overcame these obstacles and that little boy who celebrated his 10th birthday at a bus garage in Lagos whose identity was stolen when he came back to live in London is now a social entrepreneur; business improvement consultant, success strategist, corporate trainer, lifestyle business coach and a motivational speaker, a television personality, an agent of positive change, a life changer and most importantly a husband and a father.

The experience he brings to people over the last 10 years has led him to the discovery that if we help people to see themselves as they can, not as they are; then the way they think, the way they feel and the way they act will eventually be altered, thereby resulting in higher performance.

Listed in the first edition of UK's Who's Who of Black Achievers (published in 1999/2000), Dayo won the Exemplary Nigerian Award for hard work and integrity in 2004 and also bagged the Competent Toastmaster Award from Toastmasters International. In 2006, he bagged both the Advance Toastmaster Bronze and Competent Leader Awards from Toastmasters International. In June 2007, he was named as one of the five most popular Black Speakers in the UK and in 2008 bagged the Advance Communicator Silver Award from Toastmasters International. In 2009, he was bestowed with the Nigeria’s Ambassador of Hope in the Diaspora Award.

In 2007 he completed Flora London Marathon to raise money and create awareness for Leukaemia and on 13 April 2008 he completed Flora London Marathon again to create awareness and raise funds for Hearts of Gold Children’s Hospices, the first children’s hospices and respite care facility in Nigeria.

http://www.dayoolomu.com

For more information and interviews, please contact:
Dele Onabowu
07830970465
*Photographs of Dayo Olomu are available on request.

Dayo Olomu – Catalyst for Positive Change

Dayo Olomu who is a study in doggedness and an example of how anyone can overcome adversity to succeed and thus become an inspiration to others is a successful social entrepreneur, business improvement consultant, winning strategist, HR leadership and management trainer, executive coach and a motivational speaker. On my birthday my family and I spent the whole day at Brighton beachfront. Later in the evening we went for dinner. Before I retire to bed I spent sometime reflecting on the journey so far.

During my reflection time the thought that came to my mind was the telephone call I received a day before my birthday as I was leaving Tate Britain where I had gone to enjoy contemporary British Art from 1500 to present day. A lovely lady called me to wish me a happy birthday and asked me what I am thankful for am at 45. My response was that I am thankful to God for the gift of life, good health and a wonderful family. These three things are the core of what I am thankful for. I am thankful that I am surrounded by people that care, love and support me; that I am enjoying the products of my dreams and vision; that I am living a live of purpose and passion; that I have not only motivate and inspired people, I have also shared practical, applicable, actionable tactics and strategies for acting on their inspiration and motivation. “That was quite interesting” she replied.
What makes me most fulfilled at 45 is seeing the results in clients and people that I’ve worked with transform right in front of my very eyes as their new choices and new strategies help them live a more fulfilled and empowered life.

I am happy that I have been able to restore belief to many people who have lost it, vision to those who can no longer see and cure many people who suffer from possibilities blindness. I am delighted to be a noble warrior who is winning in different aspects of my life. Winning as described by Israel’s ‘Winning Guru Yehuda Shinar in his book “Think Like a Winner” is someone’s ability to maximise his or her potentials even when under pressure and in competitive situation – while demonstrating constant improvement”. The truth is that I have ‘worked harder on myself than my job.” I got this advised from Jim Rohn.

Discovering, mentoring, coaching and training seven speakers who featured at ‘Invent Your World & Make in Happen’ in April 2010 also gladdens my heart. Mentoring and coaching up and coming speakers is like gaining immortality. If I teach them and they teach others, then what I know lives forever.

To me, being successful is not only achieving my goals, but also helping others to win as well, which I have been doing for the past few years for people and organisations. I believe that it is important to have long and sustainable success.
Since June 2005 when I turned 40 I have lived my life in the full glory of who I am and as a result I am more confident, happier and fulfilled than I have ever been. And because of this change, I am achieving more in a faster time-scale as I am operating from my strength and full potential.

What I enjoyed most about my work, career and business is: 1) making a difference; 2) inspiring and empowering people and organisations and 3) having fun while making a difference & inspiring and empowering people and organisations. Isn’t that GREAT? When work is a pleasure, life is a joy. I believe in what I do – I am paid to make a difference in people’s life – what a great job. I go to work everyday with passion.

My focus now is making a difference and aligning myself with the people and organisations that enable me to make a difference in the world especially in Africa and United Kingdom .
Finally I would be spending more time performing the roles I cherish most in life that of a husband and father.

Invent Your World & Make It Happen

Londoners are about to witness the Biggest Event yet in the history of Personal Development Education and Training, 2010.

Also a GREAT OPPORTUNITY to NETWORK with leading Professionals and Successful Business People...

INVENT YOUR WORLD & MAKE IT HAPPEN by joining top World Class Speakers:
Nana Ofori-Atta
Lydia Akinwunmi
Maureen Egbe
Richard Oluyinka
Afolabi Sekoni
Florence Ikpeme
Seyi Eyitayo

Also featuring on stage will be the renowned International Speaker, Writer, Business and Professional Trainer, Coach, Mentor and Founder of New Generation Academy, Richard Tchoutezo.

Date: Saturday 10 April 2010
Time: 11am to 4pm

Venue: The Premier Inn Hotel, King’s Cross, London

Investment: £25 per person. He was the guest speaker at Ardyss Body Magic product Show held at the new Protea Hotel, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Olomu’s keynote address, which lasted for about forty minutes, left the audience asking for more. He spoke on key elements of success in the 21st century and how anybody who desired success can achieve it.

He noted that to succeed, first step is to believe in oneself and moved further to take action towards achieving the desired success. He explained further that people we relate or hang out with on a daily bases are also determinant of our level of success. The way such people talk; what they wear; their taste and lifestyle become ours sooner if we remained close to them. Everybody was able to know that action is the constant separator of achievers and failed persons.

The truth is many of the audience must have listened to success talks at one time or the other but the style, the punch, the eloquence, the energy and unique verve in Dayo Olomu’s delivery was the difference. No doubt, he is a professional personal development expert.

At the end of the presentation many of the ladies at the Ardyss Body Magic Show were moved to taking action in buying the product, while others expressed interest in purchasing outside the venue.

By Ganiyu Olowu, Lagos

Dayo Olomu’s 2009 Year in Review

My Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Each year at this time, I resolve that "Next year is going to be the best year of my life!" (Until the following year). You should do the same. Resolve today to make next year your best year, and then write down seven things that would happen to you if it genuinely was your best year. I learnt this from one of my teachers; Brian Tracy a few years ago.

My spiritual life and personal relationship with my God and my fellow human being is growing stronger and stronger. I achieved one of my spiritual goals which was to complete the Holy Bible. It took me 3 years to complete this goal and now that I have completed it, feels like such a great achievement for me.

The home front is great. I am blessed with a happy and healthy family. My stylish and gorgeous wife, goddess bagged a BA Hons in Business & Management while our first daughter, got admitted to the University of Kent, Canterbury in September. The other children are also doing very well in school, whilst I kept myself fit and healthy and was able to complete this year’s Fleet Half Marathon with a smile on my face.

In terms of my work 2009 remains my best year ever. My speaking schedule was jam-packed. I could barely see straight, let alone handle the demand of 60+ engagements in UK, West Africa and United Arab Emirates. It was a dream and a nightmare at the same time. Next year, I shall be scaling down my speaking schedule so I can spend quality time with my family. I have decided that it is time to stop “pounding the pavement” of the speaking circuit as I have been doing this for the past 13 years. It’s time for a new direction.
I’m now beginning my transition into my new found love—coaching and developing speakers who are eager to create or expand their own speaking business. I hope to launch a new generation of public speakers in the first quarter of next year.

On Monday 31 August, I received the news of the passing of my wonderful mum, Mother Celestial Florence Olomu. It was one of the most challenging moments of my life. I reached an emotional low, the depth of which I didn't think existed but I took solace in the fact that she has gone home to meet the Lord. She was eventually laid to rest on 25 September 2009.

When I look back now to that moment in my life I am really thank God for making it possible for me to give her a befitting burial. If she had died in 1996 when I just relocated to UK and was jobless and penniless, discovering that someone had stolen my identity and used it to open a bank account, collect credit cards and even used it to marry, it could have been disastrous for me. I would not have been able to afford to go to Nigeria to talk, let alone give her a befitting burial.

Towards the end of the year I was appointed as a Leading Faculty trainer with ‘Most kept secret in the world of Personal Development Education in UK, New Generation Academy’. I accepted the offer because I shared one of their aims “To create a unique platform or an avenue where people around the World and Africa in particular will be able to positively and confidently unlock and unleash their inner potentials.” This is in line with one of my plans for Africa which is “to help increase the level of human capital in the continent, increase the number of business leaders & entrepreneurs; develop effective communicators & public speakers; help people to conquer fear, to stop procrastination, to believe in themselves, and to take action so that they can become the person they are destined to be.” New generation Academy will also serve as a catalyst to achieve my long term goal “to impact 1 billion people's lives in a positive way by 2020”

Last year my audio programme, “You Got The Power” was sent to more than 180 countries in September 2008. I was the first speaker and author of African origin in Europe to achieve this feat. I am thankful for this achievement. Due to popular demand, the audio programme will be turned into a book and will be out on or before 25 June 2010.

It was a year of awards. In 2009 I was honoured with five awards - the highest number of awards in my professional life. It started in Lagos in April when I was honoured with the Nigeria’s Ambassador of Hope in the Diaspora; In August I was voted as MC of the Year in UK and in September I was voted UK’s Motivational Speaker of the Year. I also bagged “Merit award for my contributions to the development of music and movie” and another “Merit Award of Excellence for Outstanding Contribution to the development of Arts and Humanity”. I would like to use this medium once more to thank those who voted for me and the organisers of the awards.

I am thankful to God for making it possible for me to be living my dream and passion. This year has been a remarkable year for me and I hope it has also been for you. Congratulations to You for all that you have accomplished in 2009, and may 2010 be the best year of your life.

With best wishes,

Dayo Olomu

PS: It promises to be one of the biggest personal development events in 2010 as DOCCI present 7 incredible speakers in 1 Day. The event will be hosted by award winning motivational speaker Dayo Olomu and is being supported by New Generation Academy. Here was a man who, two days previous to this speaking engagement had shared the stage with renowned international motivational speaker - Les Brown, in Westminster London.

After speaking so passionately about how he overcame adversity and poverty growing up in Nigeria, his speech although short but straight from the heart, received a standing ovation from the audience including Les Brown himself. Little wonder that he recently won the award of Best Motivational Speaker of the Year in UK at the M&M Awards.

Dayo’s speech delved into the subject matter of setting clear goals and achieving them. According to him “The reason why most people face the future with apprehension instead of anticipation is because they have no goal”. This simple task has accounted for many people who do not know what they want out of live. But in order to ascertain what you do want out of live, you need to make clear written goals. The goals also need to be visualised. In order words, one needs to have a clear mental picture that the goals will be the ones that will give birth to your dreams. You may even go one step further and visualise already attaining them.

Dayo explained it this way. “Not only should you get a clearer picture of where you want to go. You must be passionate about your desired goal because passion is the energy that drives your goal. What often stops us from reaching our full potential are our limiting beliefs, and the biggest one is fear. One thing you must never allow fear to do is to stop you from achieving your goal”.

In the field of personal development, imparting knowledge and motivating people who want to improve their lives may seem an effortless task. But fundamentally, the arduous task is in getting people to set goals for themselves about what they want to do. By all means everyone should have a dream, but a dream is futile if there are no set goals to bring the dream to fruition. Dayo gave it a different definition. “A dream is a goal with a deadline”. Many of the successful people who have set goals in various areas of their lives, set goals. Therefore, the end result is a progressive realisation of their dreams.

In setting goals, Dayo broke this down into 5 W’s and H’s.

WHAT – do you want in life?
WHEN – do you want it?
WHY – do you want it?
WHO – will help you achieve your goal?
WHERE – are you at the moment?

HOW – am I going to achieve my goals?

The best possible start you could make in setting goals is to write it down and make it plain. Desist from committing your goals to memory, as the brain is not for storing information but to be used for creativity. “You can never hit your target unless you think on paper” Dayo enthused. “A goal that is not in writing is not a goal at all. It is merely a wish and it has no energy behind it".

Secondly, break your goals down. For instance, your desired goal may be to lose weight within a specific time frame. In this instance, if it is a one year goal, it should be broken down into months; a one month goal broken down into weeks, etc.

Thirdly, plan and manage your time effectively. Time management is life management. “If you cannot properly manage your time, there is no way you can effectively manage your life or your goal. Our situations and needs influence our time orientation, but our time orientation (and needs) can be changed, leading to success in life” Dayo continued.

Having decided on what you want to do, and set goals to accomplish them using effective time management, you then need to take action. Action is what separates the go-getters from the mere dreamers. It separates the winners from the quitters. Life is about results - for it is only when you do something unique and worthy of emulation that you will be celebrated. Millions of cases of celebrated people abound in the Guinness Book of Records.

According to Dhammapada “Just as a flower, which seems beautiful has colour but no perfume, so are the fruitless words of a man who speaks them but does them not”. Having a positive mental attitude and dogged determination through daily powerful affirmations is what will propel you to taking action. “Commitment leads to action and action brings your goals closer to you. Daily goals are reached by doing things that may be uncomfortable at first but which eventually becomes habits. Habits are powerful; they turn actions into attitudes, and attitudes into lifestyles”, Dayo remarked.

Perhaps one of the key barriers that has impeded many people in the pursuit of their dreams is that despite starting well, they end up finishing poorly when they meet an obstacle. “Your persistence is the direct measure of how much you believe in yourself and in your ability to succeed. Persistence blended with experimentation does guarantee success”, Dayo reasoned. Henry Ford was right when he observed that "Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal"

“I am a believer in the philosophy of the mountain climber which says, “I will climb the mountain. They have told me it’s too high, it’s too far, it’s to steep, it’s too rocky, and it’s too difficult. But it’s my mountain. I will climb it. You will soon see me waving from the top or you’ll never see me, because unless I reach the peak, I’m not coming back", Dayo continued.

It’s your life. You can make it happen. It is better to live one day as a tiger than a hundred years as a sheep. Like the Nike advert says to your face "JUST DO IT"

Dayo Olomu to speak on “You Got The Power” @ Les Brown Live In London

Dayo Olomu to speak on “You Got The Power” @ Les Brown Live In London

At a time when the world is experiencing the worst recession in living memory, Les Brown delivers the tools and motivation to transform your life and to realise your dreams, no matter how bad things may be. How about you do the same thing to! Resolve today to make next year your best year ever, and then write down seven things that would happen to you if it genuinely was your best year. I learnt this from one of my teachers, Brian Tracy.

My life is busy but I am happy and well. I have a happy, healthy and thriving family. My lovely wife Sade is looking radiant and our children are doing very well in school.

I have kept myself, fit and trim and was able to complete the Flora London Marathon with a smile on my face on April 13th raising funds and creating awareness for Heart of Gold Children Hospice.

I must say that despite the global credit crunch 2008 remains my best year ever. I started the New Year with my talk show Arize with Dayo Olomu on Passion TV (now off air) where I had a fantastic time. After the TV station went off air I put energy into my speaking career and the result was spectacular. I had 52 speaking engagements. I also leap into greatness on 29th February 2008 when my audio CD “You Got the Power” was released.

In August the CD was sent to more than 180 countries by Success University and I also joined one hundred of the World's leading speakers and trainers like Zig Ziglar, Jim Rohn, Les Brown, Patricia Fripp, Dr Dennis Waitley, Maria Wieder, Connie Podesta (to mention just a few) as a faculty member and trainer of US-based Success University. With this I achieved two of my long term goals of having one of my products in one hundred countries by 2012 and becoming a global brand in the personal development industry.

I was interviewed by several newspapers and magazine both in the UK & Nigeria. I ended the year with a 5-page interview in the Xmas bumper edition of Ovation Magazine (Africa’s leading celebrity magazine) where I share the secrets of success. If you do not have a copy yet, I suggest you go and buy one. Due to popular demand I have started work on my autobiography which by the grace of God will be launched in 2010.

This year has been a remarkable year for me and I hope it has also been for you. Congratulations to You for all that you have accomplished in 2008, and may 2009 be the best year of your life.

A MUST ATTEND SEMINAR FOR YOU. They wonder how I have time for my family, being a motivational speaker, a peak performance/lifestyle business coach, an author, personal development trainer, infopreneur, brand/PR strategist, publisher, a TV talk show host, UK Ambassador, Heart of Gold Children’s Hospices & Orphanage and Vice Chairman, Advisory Board of Voice of African Radio

One day, I was in the gym with my very good friend, Joe De Souza, a highly
skilled Speaker who has impacted me immensely, when he asked me the same
question. He certainly got me thinking that I thought and deemed it appropriate to write about my personal time management. I must begin by saying that I owe it to the good Lord. I've always believed that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Also I have a good wife at home who not only believes in me but supports me.

I place a lot of time on high value activities; things that advance my overall purpose in life, things I have always wanted to do, things I am most passionate about and things that will yield positive and maximum result. I am an apostle of good time management. Time management is life management. In this modern time, if you cannot properly manage your time there is no way you can properly manage your life.

My time is built around my goals, values, purpose, passion, mission and vision which I established in 2000 when I went on pilgrimage to Jerusalem to celebrate my 35th birthday. My goals are eight folds: Spiritual & Values; Family & Friends; Health & Fitness; Career & Business; Financial & Wealth; Health & Fitness; Self-development; Personal Needs & Fun Time; Community & Humanity

My purpose and passion is to help ordinary people and businesses do extra ordinary things and become who they desire to be while my mission is to inspire and empower people and organisations to higher levels of achievement and peak performance. My vision is to have one of my products in 100 countries by 2012 and to build a global brand dedicated to the advancement of the human race which by 2020 will reach 1 billion people. Knowing my purpose, passion, mission and vision in life helps me prioritise my time. The desire to excel and reach my full potential propels me.

Having decided on my goals, I then deal with the other tasks ahead of me in order of priority. The priority I place on any task is determined by how it measures up with my goals. The more a task helps in achieving my goals, the more important it is to me.

I go to bed at midnight and wake up at about 6.00. The first thing I do when I wake up is to use the first hour (which I call the ‘golden hour’) to prepare myself for the day. I prepare myself spiritually by praying; physically by exercising, and mentally by reading something that will stimulate me; thereafter I leave for the office. I spend majority of my time during the day training and attending meetings. If my wife is busy I also do school runs either in the mornings or evenings. I make provisions for this and also to attend over 90% of my children’s parents evening. The first one hour after arriving home is family time. I switch off my mobile phone to give my wife and children undivided attention.

I train four times a week, and write at least two articles a week. Every Saturday morning I present my television programme Arize! With Dayo Olomu (broadcast live every Saturday morning on Passion TV, Sky 169). Though the programme starts at 10am I am always at the studio by 8am. Afterward I go for my speaking engagement. Thereafter I return home to my family.

After church on Sunday, we have our traditional lunch of jolof rice with salad and later in the evening I watch events on Passion TV & Ben TV & Nigerian movies on Nollywood Movies with my wife and children.

Prioritisation is critical to how I spend my personal time. I do the first thing first. I do not watch television except news and I am one of the rare birds who are not addicted to sports. I spend a great deal of time reading books (I read at least two books a month), magazines, articles, periodicals and trade journals that are of interest to me and from which I collect the information for my research files. Whenever I am out, I ensure I take reading materials with me to fill my time during any waiting period. When I am travelling I spend flying times and airport waiting times revising and updating written materials on my pocket PC. I also use a Blackberry. With this ‘toy’ I can check my emails and surf the Internet while I’m on the road.

The passion I have for what I do invariably determines how much work I accomplish.
I make every attempt to respond to my calls and correspondences within 24 hours; however, it sometimes takes a little longer, especially when I am working on a project that needs my undivided attention. Whenever I have a board meeting I create time to prepare for it especially if I have a presentation to do. I attend at least one board meeting every week. Before I retire to bed I reflect on the day and then carefully plan for the following day.

It has been said that Proper Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance; therefore it is crucial to plan your activities thoroughly. Remember, those who fail to plan, plan to fail.

P.S: Join Dayo Olomu LIVE at a location closer to you:

Sat 31 August @ Thistle Charing Cross.Goals - Achieving the Impossible

Tuesday 9 September @ Best Western Cumberland Hotel, Harrow HA1 2EF. Dayo had an appointment with an executive lady who wanted his help to prepare her for a training position with a national organisational. This was not going to be no ordinary coaching session, the lady had put together a list of several points she wanted to cover in her session with Dayo and for Dayo to give her the best coaching ever he was going to have to put this into a 5 hour programme. Yes… this coaching session was going to last for five hours straight.

Dayo starts the session with a bang, he brings out a coaching manual (this manual was the size of a phone book) that he put together to help the lady during the session and then to provide her with continuous information after the session. Two hours into the session and Dayo is still going, covering all the points the young lady wanted. The fourth hour strikes and both Dayo and the lady wonder where the time has gone. Dayo has still got the same high level of energy at the fourth hour as he did when he first started. Dayo finishes at 1 o’clock but this is only the first part of the marathon that Dayo has to cover.

Onto Canary Wharf, Docklands where there is a luncheon event organised by Redeemed Christian Church of God Redemption Parish to help raise funds for the up keep of their church. This is the second part to Dayo’s day, he’s been invited to give a talk and he’s got to think on his feet. The challenge was, to give a talk that would both inspire everyone, but also remind them why they were there. Dayo rises to the challenge; he talks about the need to have a work, life balance. Remembering and acknowledging loved ones. He then swiftly moves on to his life story expressing how anyone can achieve what they want, the same way he was able to, this nicely links on to the purpose of the event, raising funds for the church. Everybody is clapping and nodding in agreement; you can sense that they all feel like they can do anything. The luncheon finishes at 5.30 pm but Dayo’s day is still going, his marathon hasn’t finished yet.

Next stop Crayford, if you’re wondering where Crayford is, well it’s in Bexley, a bit of a drive from Canary Wharf but not that hard to get to. Dayo had been invited as a special guest of honour to give a motivational talk at the Gateway Chapel in Crayford by a young man Emmanual Osobu who just stated a company Emmanuel Drummonds & Co. Last month he sent Dayo an email that “I have been a fan of yours ever since you came on New Dawn with Funmi Iyanda... The words you spoke that day made me, those words turned my life around. I would want to use this opportunity to invite you to the product of a company you gave birth to indirectly through the words of your mouth.”

The event was a Gospel Expo, there were Gospel groups and musicians who performed heavenly and one of the artistes was Yoland Brown. Now Yolanda Brown had previously been a guest on Dayo’s talk show Arize, so it was a pleasure to meet with her again. Since the room was filled with people who were already lifted by the inspiring music, Dayo came out and greeted everyone with a high energy introduction, he felt good, he had the ‘James Brown’ I feel good feeling, everyone laughed and applauded him. Dayo’s talk covered how to face adversity and overcome it, he let everyone know how unique and special they all were, and again, if he could do it, they could do it to. At this point it was 9.30 pm and dark outside, Dayo was still going.

Now, you must be thinking, is there an end to this day, well yes there is. Well not until Dayo attends his last event by Centre for Democracy and Development’s second annual West Africa Night to celebrate the achievements of the West African Diaspora. The event took place at Amnesty International’s Human Right Action Centre in Shoreditch. Dayo was invited here to take part in this special event. This was an entertaining event with good music by Dele Sosinmi, good food and an excellent forum to network. But it was late now, 11.30 pm to be precise. Dayo had crossed the line. He had finished his marathon day. The London marathon lasted 6 hours 30 minutes but Saturday’s marathon lasted 15 hours and 30 minutes.

Maureen Egbe is Dayo Olomu’s PA

Style is who you are and what you wear

43-year-old Dayo Olomu, one of UK's leading motivational coaches and talk-show hosts who was recently named as one of the Most Good-Looking Nigerian Men in London, shares his style in an online interview with GBENGA ADERANTI

Briefly describe your wardrobe.

My wardrobe consists of formal/business wear, smart casual wear and traditional wear.

Could you give an overview of what style is to you?

A style is a physical or visual expression of who you are and what you wear.

What informs what you wear?

The event I am attending and the role I am playing inform what I wear. The occasion might be formal or informal. For informal occasion when I want to look smart and casual, I wear a jacket, blazer or suit with a York collar shirt, the wider cutaway collar with single cuff; and for formal and business occasions, I wear Windsor collar shirt , original Duke of Windsor full cutaway collar with double cuff.

How would you define your fashion sense?

I like to dress smartly, neatly, decently and appropriately. I do wear accessories to enhance my style.

Some people cannot do without some fashion accessories. In your own case, what are those accessories you cannot do without?

I value my cufflinks, pocket handkerchiefs, belts and ties. For native attire, it is my cap.

You live in Britain, one expects you to be in English attire every time. Do you miss your native attire?

I do not miss it because I still wear my native attire to functions. I wear my full agbada to my formal traditional outings and buba and sokoto to the less formal ones.

Who are the people whose style you admire?

I admire Kunle Bakare, the Publisher of National Encomium. I have known him for more than 10 years. He is a man of style and panache

Some people have argued that the biological make up of Africans is quite different from the Europeans, therefore shirts designed by Europeans are not appropriate for Africans. Do you believe this?

No I do not believe that. I wear Hawes & Curtis shirts and they are fitting.

Where do you shop for your clothes?

I buy my chino trousers anytime I am in the US, while I buy my suits whenever I am in Italy. For my shirts, I shop at Hawes & Curtis. I buy my perfumes at Selfridges in Central London. For my pocket handkerchief I shop at Tie Rack. I also shop at Allders of Croydon.

London is a place where you have a crossbreed of cultures. How handy is it to get Nigerian designers?

We have many Nigerian designers in London who are good. I wear a lot of Kitan Fashion stuff and that of Yinka Raymond.

Considering the nature of your job, were you at any point tempted to wear agbada to any of the outings?

I do wear them a lot in London. I feel comfortable in them. Anytime I wear them to any outing, I always stand out. My culture means a lot to me. Culture is a natural asset, equivalent of oil and diamond.

Your suspender used to be your identity, do you still use this?

Not much these days. After my 40th birthday in 2005, I changed my looks to more smart and casual. If it is not very important, you will not see me in suit with the braces, tie and pocket handkerchief.

Suits are must for all men, how many do you have?

I do not like keeping lots of suits. After using them for a year or two, I give them out and buy new ones. Same with my shirts, ties and shoes.

What are those things you would not be caught wearing?

I cannot think of any.

How often do you change your wardrobe?

Every two years.

What is the highest amount of money you have spent on clothes?

I can't remember how much, but I know it was my wedding suit

Some people cannot do without perfume. Does this apply to you?

Yes. From my childhood, I have been using perfumes and I value them. At any point in time, I always have more than three perfumes, excluding my aftershave. I have different perfumes for different occasions.

Who is your best designer in the UK & Nigeria?

My best designer in the UK is Kitan Fashions. He has been my designer since I relocated to the UK. His designs are simple and nice while Mudi Clothings is my best designer in Nigeria. His designs are classy, unique and elegant.

What's your appetite like, when one talks of wristwatches?

I love good wrist watches preferably in good leather or silver. Most of my wristwatches are presents from my wife, goddess Sade Olomu.

Daily Star
posted on Saturday 12 July 2008
http://www.newsstarng.com/Gents%20Style/120720081.php

My Life @ 43 – Dayo Olomu

I can’t believe that I am 43 today 25th of June 2008. I really feel as if I am 21. I thank God. I am healthy and fit. The major thing that gives me so much joy and happiness is my family. They are happy, healthy and thriving. My lovely wife, Goddess Sade is fit and trim, and our children are doing very well in school and are also in good health. My mother, Florence is not doing badly too. I love my family dearly, because at the end of the day, they are the reason why I live. Also knowing that I have a God who never fails completes my joy. Aside this my best selling book, 4 Indispensable Strategies for Success published in 2005; my audio CD, You Got The Power produced in 2008 and running the 2008 London Marathon for Hearts of Gold Children’s Hospices combined to, gives me joy, happiness and fulfilment @ 43.

To me, being successful is not only about achieving my goals, but also helping others to win as well. I want my name to appear in people’s testimonial. I want them to say something like, ‘I was at a certain place in my life and I listened to this person, he impacted my life positively and cured me of possibility blindness’. You can imagine how that makes me feel. I receive letters and emails daily from people whose lives I have impacted in a positive way with my television programme Arize! With Dayo Olomu (broadcast live every Saturday morning on Passion TV, Sky 169), through my seminars, speaking engagements, my writing, which has been published in numerous publications around the world, through coaching, through the people I mentor and those who have attended my trainings. I even received emails on Facebook. Through these platforms I am able to reach about 1 million people a year. Imagine what will happen in ten years. The testimonies I received from people bring so much joy to my heart. It’s more important to be part of the society in which you live and contribute something worthwhile to its success. To me, that is true success.

I was once asked why I decided to run the London Marathon. I said, taking on this initiative is my little way of adding value and contributing to make this world a better place than they way I met it. When I get to the end of my life, I want to know that my life counted for something, that long after I have left this world, somehow my impact lived on. I want to know that I have done all that I could to make this world a better place, by positively enhancing the lives of those around me and helping thousands, if not millions, to become who they desire to be and achieved what they thought was impossible. I want to know that I gave everything my best shot. I want it to be on record that I maximised my potential and stretched myself to the limit. Most importantly I want to know that I serve God and that I am a good husband and father. I believe that successful living is not just about having lots of money but it is also about living a life of purpose that add value to the society. And I believe with my book, my audio CD and running the London Marathon not just once but twice I have added value to the human race in my own little way.

My vision and long term goal is to build a global brand dedicated to the advancement of the human race which by 2020 will reach 1 billion people. I intend to achieve this through my products, speaking, seminars, writing, training, mentoring, coaching, and through my television and later radio programmes.

I would like to share with you the 43 greatest lessons that I have learnt in life and business at 43. Enjoy it and hope you will learn one or two things

1. Have a strong faith and put God first in everything you do because if God did not build the house those who labour, labour in vain.
2. Clarify and know what you want from life. This gives you something to aim for. If you know what you want you have already won 75% of the battle.
3. Set goals because goals are dreams with deadlines. Goals are as essential to success as air is to life. No one ever stumbles into success without a goal; no one ever lives without air. Have your goals written on paper and start small.
4. Plan, plan and plan. You’ve got to have a plan. A plan is a map, a guide, a target, a focus, a route, a signpost, a direction, a path and a strategy, because those who fail to plan, plan to fail.
5. If the three most important words in Real Estate are Location! Location! Location! The three most important words that will take you to the top are, YOU! YOU!! YOU!!! You must believe in yourself. Most people fail not because they lack the skills or talent to reach their goals but simply because they don’t believe they can reach it.
6. The secret to your dream and success doesn't lie in the specifics; it lies in your willingness to take Action. Action is the key to learning, to living, and to accomplishment so take action. Action is what separates the doers from dreamers and the talkers from the walkers.
7. Do not allow the fear of failure to stop you from achieving your dreams and Never, ever give up on your dreams and goals
8. When setbacks or tragedies happen see them as opportunities for growth because success thrives on adversity. As the saying goes, "A calm sea does not make a skilled sailor."
9. Do not procrastinate because it is better to try and fail, than fail to try and an ineffective plan executed today is better than a perfect plan delayed till next year.
10. Have an affirmation or self talk that you read daily.
11. Have a journal where you record your dreams, goals and accomplishments.
12. Use the first hour when you wake up in the morning as your golden hour where you shape up or develop yourself spiritually, physically and mentally.
13. Try and develop different Skills and have multiple streams of income.
14. Read a minimum of six books a year because the more you learn the more you earn.
15. Develop your communication and leadership skills to give you a competitive edge. I joined Toastmasters International to develop mine and it has benefited me immensely. I came across a copy of an article that referred to some research by the Carnegie Institute. The message from the research is that 85% of your success is the result of your ability to effectively communicate with yourself and others.
16. Do not make a decision base on emotions and what people might think or say, make your decision based on facts and information at your disposal. Before you take a decision pause, think again then decide
17. It is important that you set out time alone to think clearly and creatively about how you can be better personally and professionally. I called this ‘Personal Alone Time’ (PAT). With this you will become a strategic thinker and planner. Schedule in a least two hours a week.
18. Don’t spend more than what you earn.
19. Have a business plan before you start a business.
20. In these days, for you to survive in business you have do think and do things differently from others.
21. Before going into business with anyone or seeking investors for your business always have everything written down on paper and signed.
22. In every business you must start with the philosophy of being customer lead but sales driven.
23. Before you go into any business, a product, service or an invention, think whether the customer would really like it. Would they buy it, what are their interests and most importantly, what is in it for them?
24. To established priority for your work it is useful to look at two concepts: urgent & important. A task is URGENT if it must be done today to have any value and a task is IMPORTANT if it has a high value. Caution: Avoid categorising all your tasks as important or you will need to attend a stress management course in the near future.
25. Time management is life management. If you cannot manage your time there is no way you will be able to manage your life.
26. Success leaves clue – Look for those who have done what you want to do. Simply identify a mentor and be coachable.
27. In business you must have and know your unique selling point. This is what sets a business apart from the competitor.
28. The first factor to consider before making a lifetime commitment is to make a background check on the person, especially regarding what beliefs s/he holds dear. It is imperative to know that relationships last longer when both partners share basic beliefs in such matters as religion, money, sex, parenting and social values.
29. Open your two eyes before you marry and when you are in it close one eye
30. Try to strike a balance between work and family and spend quality time with them.
31. If you are married be proud of your spouse and take them out to important events or gatherings. I have found that nothing complements and balances up a person’s life like the beauty of having a good companion.
32. Take your health seriously and go for a medical check up once a year.
33. The way you are dressed is the way you are addressed (referred to). Always dress appropriately.
34. The level of success you have depends on the level of risk you can take. Take calculated risks.
35. Be careful with who you associate and hang out with. The people you associate with on a daily basis will largely determine your success or failure in life.
36. Surround yourself with positive people who push you and make you better. Positive people who are going where you are going or those who are already where you want to be.
37. It is not what people think of you that really matters but whom you are.
38. Trying to prove something to someone is never a valid reason for doing something. Be yourself and do not try to be someone else.
39. Take photographs of your best moments, with this you will capture tomorrow’s memories today.
40. Forget bigger and better and richer and thinner. The key is to appreciate what we’ve got right now and yet still dream and plan. That way you’ll be happier now rather than constantly looking to the future, where happiness apparently lies.
41. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, hence find time for fun or play.
42. Have a good night rest. The greatest cure for stress is good sleep. Sleep for a minimum of 6 hours.
43. Live a life of happiness, fulfilment, meaningful and purpose jam-packed with adventure and reward and work towards leaving a good legacy behind.

Dayo Olomu
The UK’s leading Motivational Coach, Facilitator & Talk Show Host

DAYO OLOMU BAGGED ADVANCE COMMUNICATOR AWARD

Dayo Olomu, the UK's leading motivational coach & founding President of Croydon Communicators Toastmasters Club, has bagged the Advance Communicator Award from the world's premier leadership and communications development organisation, Toastmasters International.

In a letter signed by Nancy Langton, Director, Members Services and Administration of Toastmasters International, she wrote,

"Congratulations on achieving Advance Communicator Silver (ACS) recognition. We are all realizing that there is more that we can achieve, including a better work/lifestyle balance. The Independent rated 'getting a coach' at number 11 in its 50 ways to live better. And according to The Sunday Times, numerous leading companies in the FTSE 100 use the principles of life coaching.” – Martin Drake

The lyrics of Elton Johns famous ballad speaks of someone sitting “in the little room downstairs”, we assume miserable, emotions numbed with “one more beer” reflecting on how “its all gone crazy lately”. Then the song speaks of the freedom and release brought about by the involvement of someone who metaphorically speaking saves this persons life. Everyone’s been there at some time or another and often the catalyst for change is another person.

We live in a world we are told where we are free to make choices, empowered to live the lives we want. The daily reality for so many people is that the world becomes a very confusing place, choices are difficult to make and relationships are more complicated and difficult to balance. Clarity, direction, improved relationships and the quest for a fulfilling work life with increased focus and concentration sit at the top of most people’s improvement “wish list”.

Life coaching is a solution that ever increasing numbers of people are turning to in order to improve specific aspects of their lives. The business world regards coaching techniques as one of the predominant methods of developing peoples skills and helping them to solve workplace problems. The coaching process relies upon the person who is being coached working on and finding the solutions to their problems for themselves; the coach acting as a skillful guide and facilitator. Through questioning and challenging, the coach guides the individual into defining and forming solid realistic action plans.

How does personal or 'life' coaching work?

Its powerful stuff and not as easy as it might seem. A good life coach or performance coach is not so easy to find. A good life coach will help you to clearly identify the problem and start exploring those solutions that are right for you. The coach is not there to tell you what to do. Most people don’t respond well to being told what to do anyway, and when we are told what to do, what are the chances of sticking to it? Ideas that we have generated are probably the ones that end up delivering the results.

Personal coaching can be surprisingly affordable depending upon the magnitude of what you want to achieve. A block of 4 to 5 one hourly session, spaced by a week is often sufficient to address most issues. The coach will expect you however to work on your actions in-between sessions and a good one will help you to plan and see the progress being made.

If you are basically well, and need to “kick-start an area of your life coaching might just be the solution and who knows someone might just save your life tonight.

Source: http://www.coaching-life.co.uk & http://drakecoaching.com/

Personal Coaching - For those who are interested in personal coaching email Dayo Olomu at dayo@dayoolomu.com or check out http://www.coaching-life.co.uk/ukdriectory/greaterlondon.htm

Join Dayo Olomu Live on 1st July 2008

Praise Promotions - Helping you to attract greater success & wealth through personal development events

You've Got The Power Seminar

This powerful seminar will inspire and motivate you to believe in yourself and take the action that will enable you to become who you desire to be and achieve peak performance because “You Got The Power”.

Tuesday 1st July @ 6:45pm

Best Western Cumberland Hotel
The Green Room
St Johns Road
Harrow
HA1 2EF

Nearest tube: Harrow on the Hill

Investment: £3 per person (refreshments & snacks included)

Special Guest Speaker:

Dayo Olomu - The UK's Leading Motivational Coach, Facilitator & Talk Show Host.

Dayo Olomu who is a study in doggedness and an example of how anyone can overcome adversity to succeed and thus become an inspiration to others is a successful social entrepreneur, a best selling author, facilitator, talkshow host and in-demand speaker.

The founding president of Croydon Communicators Toastmasters' is also the best-selling author of “4 Indispensable Strategies for Success" and “Dayo Olomu’s Great Quotes for Success”. For those who aren’t career athletes, running means keeping your body in shape.

"Dayo Olomu founder of dayoolomu.com and aleading UK-based motivational coach cum personal development trainer doesn’t fit into any of the above mould, yet this author of best selling book “4 Indispensable Strategies for Success” is gearing up for the 2008 Flora London Marathon. In this interview with Nkechi Obi, he revealed why he is running the forthcoming Flora London Marathon in April

Who are you running the 2008 Flora London Marathon for?
I am running the 2008 Flora London Marathon to create awareness and raise funds for Hearts of Gold Children's Hospices based in Lagos, Nigeria of which I am the UK Ambassador To get a place I had to go through the ballot and I was among the 10,000 lucky people who were successful at the recent ballot drawn by London Marathon. I am delighted to be the first Nigerian in the UK to run the London Marathon for a Nigerian based charity.

Can you tell us what Hearts of Gold Children’s Hospice is all about?
Hearts of Gold Children’s Hospice is the first children's hospice and respite care facility in Nigeria. The house opened it doors in October 2003 in response to a steadily increasing number of abandoned and orphaned sick children suffering from a vast range of illnesses.

These illnesses have the potential to end their lives in a matter of days, weeks, months or sometimes years. When a diagnosis is given which offers no hope or when medical treatment have been tried, but a cure is not achieved, in many cases there is no treatment available. For each of theses children with a terminal of like limiting illnesses, the hospice offers comfortable, caring and loving environment as there may well be all too few tomorrow. Hearts of Gold provides respite support, palliative care (comfort and pain management) and end-of-life care for children with life-threatening and terminating illnesses. I have known the founder of the hospice for years and I strongly believe in what she is doing.

Have you always been athletics and did you take part in athletics in your primary and secondary school days?
You will never believe it but I never took part in athletics in my primary and school days. In fact I have never taken part in any athletics until 25 June 2004 when I participated in the Leukaemia Research' 10K run with my wife, Sade Olomu
When I decided to run the Flora London Marathon last year, I was told that I can never complete it. When no one believed in me, I believed in myself and achieved more what the doubters thought was impossible by completing the London Marathon with a smile on my face. I have found that, when people believe they can accomplish something, no one is able to convince them otherwise. I have a faith in myself, a self believe that was grounded deeply in my soul.

In terms of sponsorship and support, how is that going?
That is going on very well. Amongst those who have pledge support are: The Speaker of House of Representative, Rt Hon Dimeji Bankole, Hon Agum Igo, the chairman of the House of Rep on Gas, Hon Abike Dabiri and Hon Hadi Sirika

Others are: Dr Alistar Soyode CEO Ben TV, Adebayo Jones (who has promised to cloth me for the London Marathon), Michael Makinde of Passion TV, Space Clottey CEO of Voice of African Radio, Biodun Olusesan CEO of Radiant Glow Cosmetics, Olu Ogunnowo Hon.Bayowa Foresythe, Alexander Amosu, Tunde Iyowu of Leadership Coalition, Pastor Wale Adebajo & Phillip Dada of Sound Image.

What motivated you to start this initiative?
Taking on this initiative is my little way of adding value and contributing to make this country a better place than they way I met it. When I get to the end of my life, I want to know that know that my live counted for something, that long after I have left this world, somehow my impact lived on. I want this to be part of my legacy.

Dayo, you are the UK Ambassador of Heart of Gold, what does it involved?
My role basically is to create awareness for the charity in UK and one thing that gladdens my heart recently was that all the money realised at last year’s Stars on the Runway which I participated in was donated to Heart of Gold charity on 23 January 2008.

How long does it take to prepare for d London marathon?
To complete the marathon you need between 2 to 3 months

You did similar thing last year, please talk about it.
I ran the marathon last year to create awareness and raise money for Leukaemia Research, the only national charity devoted exclusively to improving treatments, finding cures and learning how to prevent leukaemia, Hodgkin's lymphoma and other lymphomas, myeloma and the related blood disorders, diagnosed in 24,500 people in the UK every year.

For me, everything started when I attended an award ceremony in 2004 and the lady who won the Nigerian of the Year couldn’t come because she was in the hospital suffering from Leukaemia. Surprisingly we both had the same birthday and I said I would love to meet her. This was not to be, sadly she died of leukaemia in December 2005. Her name was Gloria Ademokun, a Royal Navy lieutenant

Gloria's illness was a major shock and prompted all of her friends and family to campaign for greater awareness of leukaemia. Taking on this run is my way of doing my bit to ensure great people like Gloria do not lose their fight against the terrible blood cancer in the future. I dedicated the run to Gloria Ademokun because if she were to be alive she would have been 40 years old last year.

How much did u raise last year and what figure a u looking at this april?
It’s not really about how much in terms of monetary terms, but actually about how much awareness I’m able to create. You have to realise that Leukaemia is very rampant among the black the black community especially Africans. So this year as we, it is also not entirely about raising money alone but to also ensure that an average Nigerian in the UK is made aware of Heart of Gold Hospice with a view to supporting them financially if not now but in a not too distant future.

When and when do you practice?
I practise every Wednesday evening at the park in Clapham Common and I have my long practice by weekend on the London roads. For example I have just finishing running 8.2 mile (13.2km) from East Croydon to Vauxhall Station as part of my preparation. Next weekend I hope to increase it to 20 miles by running from Croydon to Brixton then to Elephant & Castle, an onward to Camberwell Green. From there, I’ll run to Herne Hill, to Tulse Hill to West Norwood to Crystal Palace and finally to Croydon.

Is running your hobby?
Interestingly, it is. I also enjoy; Mountain Climbing, Fire Walking, Board-breaking, Bar-bending and other challenging stuffs that have an element of fear in it. To use the words of Susan Jeffers, I like to “feel the fear and do it anyway”.

I learnt that you are about to release your first inspiration audio CD. Can you tell us about it briefly?
Yes, you are right I will be releasing my first powerful inspirational audio CD called “You Got the Power” on AdonaiBooks.com by 29 February 2008. This powerful CD will inspire and motivate you to believe in yourself and to take the action that will enable you to become who you desire to be. 25% of the proceeds from the sales of this CD will be donated to Heart of Gold Children Hospices. It will be distributed by adonaibook.com

You are the UK Ambassador of Heart of Gold, vice chairman of the advisory board Voice of Africa Radio, host & producer of Arize! with Dayo Olomu talk show on Passion TV, a motivational coach and a personal development trainer, a husband and father, how do you juggle this role and strike a balance?
I owe it to the good Lord. I've always believed that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Also I have a good wife at home who not only believes in me but supports me. I place a lot of time on high value activities. I am an apostle of good time management. Time management is life management. In this modern time, if you cannot properly manage your time there is no way you can properly manage your life.

Okay, talk more about your life outside running
I am involved in the followings:
• Coaching – personal, peak performance, executive and business coaching
by telephone, face to face and email.
• Design and lead workshops and seminars - in leadership, sales, personal & professional development, management, relationship & marriage, public speaking, goal setting & achieving, communications skills, motivation and inspiration
• Facilitation – expert in facilitating groups of all sizes from team meetings to chairing large conferences
• Consultancy – public relations, image, corporate branding, media and human resources
• Public Speaking & Comminications – speaking skills, presentation training and impromptu speaking.
• Master of Ceremonies – for seminars, workshops, conferences, product launches, press conferences, weddings.

Can you give us one of your success tips?
To achieve great success, you must not only dream and desire it, but also act; not only plan, but also believe that you have what it takes to be successful; and when setbacks occur, do not give up but rather see them as opportunities for growth because success thrives on adversity

What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about giving HOPE which is Helping Ordinary People do Extra-ordinary things.

What would you love to do one day?
I would love to go to the space as a tourist to raise money and create awareness for my charity.

How will you like to be remembered?
When I get to the end of my life, I want to know that know that my live counted for something, that long after I have left this world, somehow my impact lived on. I want to know that I have done all that I can to make this world a better place. I want to know that I gave everything my best shot. I want it to be on record that I maximized my potential and stretch myself to the limit. Most importantly I want to know that I serve God and that I am a good husband and father, devoted to improving the lives of others.

You’ve actually got a few feathers on your cap, Dayo, do you mind naming some?
Not a problem. My awards & achievements include the following:
• Named as One of the Five Most Popular Black Speakers in the UK - June 2007
• Led the Croydon Communicators Toastmaster Club as Charter President to win the Distinguished Club Award from Toastmasters International – July 2006
• Advance Toastmaster Bronze & Competent Leader Awards from Toastmasters International – June 2006
• Exemplary Nigerian Award for hardwork and integrity in 2004
• Listed in the first edition of UK’s Who’s Who of Black Achievers (published in 1999/2000 by Ethnic Minority Media)

For more info about The Hearts of Gold Children’s Hospices , visit www.hoghospice.org

Culled from AfricanVoice |Friday, 07 March 2008 – Thursday, 13 March 2008

The Passion of the Christ

Never before in the history of film-making, as far as I know, has any one film aroused as much interest, criticism, praise, condemnation " you name it, it's all there. For the Christians we felt it was going to be a marvellous experience. For non-believers there was considerable criticism from people who not only had not seen the movie but had not read the book.

Since the movie opened to the public on February 25, 2004 I never had the opportunity to watch it until Easter Sunday. I went to the cinema with my wife and mother-in-law, guess what! As the two hour plus movie progressed, I could hear sobs coming from the two of them unrestrained.

There is no question that it is a violent movie. In the days of the Roman Empire literally tens of thousands of Jews were crucified. The Romans brought that process with them and it is horrible beyond description.
The book of Isaiah graphically demonstrates and explains the procedure, and describes Christ as a result as "having no beauty" at all. He was so brutalised that his features were unrecognisable.

As horrible as the movie version is, it is far short of the reality of the pain imposed on Christ from the beatings leading to the cross. Many times the victims of crucifixion suffered prior injuries to the extent that, if left unattended, would have led to death before they even got to the cross.
Comments after the movie were quite significant. Conversations centered on the beating and crucifixion of our Lord. I believe the name of Christ has been mentioned more times in the general public the last several weeks than it has been in the last five years.

I believe Christians will be infinitely stronger in their commitment as a result of seeing this movie, I believe non-believers will be so curious about all of our excitement that they will want additional information. The doors have been opened for us to take the step which was the last thing Christ asked us to do " fulfil the great commission of teaching and preaching and baptising in the name of Christ.
As a Christian to say I am excited about and grateful for this movie would be a classic understatement. Regardless of your own personal beliefs, whether you are Jewish, Islamic or any other faith "or no faith at all " I encourage you to do yourself a huge favour and see the movie.

It will reveal the horrific price Christ paid as He, who was without sin, took all of our sins on Himself so that we could stand before God forgiven and redeemed.
Up to a point I was prepared for what I saw. Yet nothing really prepares one to watch a crucifixion, much less when it is your Lord and Saviour on the cross. The most devastating single scene, from my perspective, was when the Roman soldier drove his spear into the vicinity of Christ's heart and we witnessed His lifeblood and water pour from His side.

PS: Just finished watching Passion of the Christ which I first watched four years ago. I wrote this article in 2004 and was published in The Guardian Monday, April 26, 2004

Baby rescued from rats and pigs, struggles for survival

Published: by The Punch Wednesday, 12 Mar 2008
By Agency Reporter

An abandoned baby girl whose head was partially eaten by rats and pigs, is now struggling for survival, the News Agency of Nigeria has reported.

She was named Baby Jibike by the Hearts of Gold Children‘s Hospice, Surulere, a Lagos-based NGO, where she has been receiving treatment since she was rescued from a dump site.
The four-month-old baby was rescued by a police officer in January 2008, while she was about two months old.

The children‘s hospice is an orphanage under the care of Mrs. Laja Adedoyin.
“We are still treating the wound on her head. Well, the major reason I married her was because of her strength of character.

Nothing complements and balances up a man’s life like the beauty of having a good companion. However, finding true love isn’t as easy as it look in the movies and novels. My personal experience taught me that the first factor to consider before making a lifetime commitment is to make a background check on the person, especially regarding what beliefs she holds dear. It is imperative to know that relationships last longer when both partners share basic beliefs in such matters as religion, money, sex, parenting and social values.

One of the greatest problems of my generations’ relationship is that we don’t care about our partners’ background these days. In those days, if you would tell your parents that you want to marry somebody, the first thing they will do is to make a background check. That is, what kind of background is that person coming from? As individuals, we are all complex people who have been shaped by our backgrounds, upbringing and experiences in life. But when we are in love, we just don’t care. We see it as a non-issue whereas it is really a big issue.

Another important issue you must not brush aside is that person’s values. For example, I know many ladies who will never marry those fraudsters that abound in London and the 419ers in Nigeria because to them, they are nothing but thieves. Some ladies are of the opinion that people like that have no values. But there are also some girls who will do anything to marry them. The question is, are you happy with that person’s values?

Also, what are the habits of the person and can you cope with them? Don’t live in the fantasy island of ‘she/he will stop the bad habit after marriage.’ If you can’t live with it now you must not complain about it after marriage. You must also know the likes and dislikes of that person. Ladies, please I will like to add, never exhibit “man wanted quick attitude” because it is totally embarrassing. You just have to wait on the LORD regardless, and He will give you the desires of your heart.

Learn to accept your spouse for who he/she is; don’t try to change him/her to be “FIT FOR PURPOSE.” According to Figueroa-Faxton in her book, “Getting him, keeping him, making it work,” she explains that “In some cases you may be able to encourage your partner to alter few of his annoying habits. But remember, some things are beyond a person’s control and you cannot force him to change what can’t be changed.” Learn to accept reality! Some people will never change. It took them all their years to get to where they are. If your happiness depends on people changing then you must be living in ‘Fantasy Island.’ You can waste years complaining, causing rifts and driving yourself crazy, or you can adjust your expectations to reality and be a lot happier.

You need to take time and be clear and write down all the qualities that you are looking for in a person and commit it into God’s hand. Before I married my wife, I wrote down the qualities and the profile of the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I wanted a lady who is God fearing and a good Christian. I wanted a lady who has good home training with strong moral values. I wanted a lady who is a good cook; because “the way to a man heart is through his stomach.” I wanted a lady who is a good communicator, who is affectionate, a positive thinker, emotional secure and self motivated. I wanted a lady with a strong sense of being rooted in her. I wanted a lady who is beautiful both outward and inward. I wanted a lady with whom I can share an emotional bond with, a lady with good moral and spiritual values who is a blessing to womanhood. A lady who is always trying to improve her mind, body and soul and who is willing to work hard for things she wants. All these, I found in my lovely wife and that is why today, she is Mrs SADE OLOMU. She is one of my greatest gifts from God.

Using the Power of Leverage

One power that we have at our disposal that we often neglect to use is the power of leverage. I know what your next question is, “Dayo what are you talking about and what do you mean by leverage”. Well, Leverage is the ability to use systems or other people’s money, expertise, time, ideas or networks to achieve more, with less effort. My question to you is, “Do you use the power of leverage?” Congratulations if you do, but if you don’t, why not start now.

Before my good friend, reggae star, chef and entrepreneur Levi Roots got his break on the BBC Two’ Dragons’ Den. he was working on his reggae reggae sauce alone and produced 165 bottles day. After receiving £50,000 in investment and two Dragons to work with, he opened a factory and now produces 150,000 bottles a day.

J. Paul Getty, the billionaire oil magnate once said: "I would rather earn one percent from the efforts of 100 people than 100 percent of my own efforts." Now that’s an example of leverage working at its best which is using other people’s efforts.

There are five key forms of leverage that gives you maximum success namely; Leverage through People (friends, networks, mastermind, mentors), Leverage through Systems (technology), Leverage through Marketing (Internet, Newsletters, TV, Radio etc); Leverage through Finance (other people’s money) and Leverage through Customers (e.g. a customer database).

Now here’s how one man became successful when he used the five forms of leverage. Phillip Green the UK retailer billionaire paid himself a record £1.2bn on October 20th 2005 thereby awarding himself the biggest pay cheque in British corporate history. Where do you think that money came from? Hold on, I’ll explain.

The huge dividend which amounted to £1.3bn came from the Arcadia fashion business, which has 2,000 outlets including high street names like Top Shop, Wallis and Burton. Mr Green owns 92% of the business and therefore received £1.17bn. The balance went to the banking group HBOS, which bankrolled his purchase of the business for £850m in 2002 and owns 8% of the shares. Stay with me!

Here’s where leverage comes in. He borrowed £850m from HSBC spread over 7 years. In the second year of the business, he made a profit of £1.3billion. He used the bank loan (leverage - OPM) to make £450million and this was after paying back the initial £850m in the second year. Do you know what the interesting side of this story is? Mr Green's £1.2bn was not taxed. It was paid to his wife, Tina, who lives in Monaco.

Now here’s how leverage has worked for me. When I self published my book, 4 Indispensable Strategy for Success, I strategically partnered with Amazon.co.uk, Books etc and Waterstone to distribute the book so I didn’t have to build that capability inside DAYOOLOMU.COM. The result was that the book became a best seller and I attended a book signing ceremony by Books etc in Croydon, Surrey.

To kick started my public speaking career; I joined a mastermind alliance group where I was encouraged, given feedback and tips on how to be an outstanding speaker. For those of you who are not familiar with mastermind (see my article on Mastermind Alliance at www.dayoolomu.com). The result – less than 5 years later I was named as one of the five most popular Black Speakers in the UK. Without this group it could have taken me years to achieve this feat.

We can all access some sort of technology to give us leverage. I use by Blackberry as a means of leverage. With this ‘toy’ I can check my emails and surf the Internet while I’m on the road. How about the power of networks as a leverage, it’s not what you know but who you know, who they know and who knows you that matters. Have you heard of the Six Degrees of Separation theory; it states that only six other people separate everybody on this planet.

Almost all successful individuals understand the power of leverage. Success in any endeavour is accelerated by using leverage. You may become successful without using leverage but, if you aren’t using it that means you are willing to compromise the level of success, speed, and time necessary to get to each level.

I want to challenge you to double your expectations around your objectives in life — by the end of this week ask yourself how you can use systems or other people’s money, expertise, time, ideas or networks to achieve more things in life with less effort. Remember, two heads are better than one, so use the power of leverage to rise to the top faster. I came across a copy of an article that referred to some research by Dr David McClelland of Harvard University who spent twenty five years researching success and achievement and his conclusion was this: your reference group, the people with whom you associate with on a regular basis, largely determines your success or failure in life. His conclusion was that the people you associate with on a daily basis would determine 90% of everything that happens to you in life. You begin to think; walk, act, dress and talk like them, and you share the opinions of people you are around with most of the time. So associating with like-minded people is vital to making successful changes. Select your associations with care, he said.
Charles “Tremendous” Jones said that the only difference between who you are today and the person you will be in five years will come from the books you read and the people you associate with. May I also add that the motivational tapes and CDs you listen to are also important.
Who do you spend most of your quality time with? The old adage is true: Birds of the same feather do flock together.
The people around us always influence us. Their actions, beliefs, their attitudes and their words rub off on us! It’s automatic, it’s inevitable, and it has tremendous predictive values – the person we associate with does predict the kind of person we will become in the future.
When I was a child my mother was concerned about the kids I hung out with. Then I used to say that she never sees anything good in anybody, that she is always suspicious of my friends even my female friends. Now I know that mother was right.
Think about the people you spend your time with. Although you are born into a family, and you may not be able to choose the people you work with, you can choose your closest friends. If you choose negative friends, you are choosing to have a negative attitude. But when you spend time with positive people, you help yourself to see things in a better light. Henry Ford maintained, “My best friend is the one who brings out the best in me.” Think about what your friends bring out in you, and if it’s not your best, it might be time for you to make changes.
People who rise to the top surround themselves with people whose lives reflect the values, the priorities, the behaviours and the successes they desire for their own lives. And they are very intentional about it.
America foremost business philosopher, Jim Rohn once said that his mentor Mr Shoaff gave him a very important warning in those early days that I would like to share with you. He said, "Never underestimate the power of influence." Indeed, the influence of those around us is so powerful! Many times we don't even realise we're being strongly affected because influences generally develop over an extended period of time.
Three ways to handle associations or relationships that are holding you back according to Jim Rohn are:1) Disassociate. This is not an easy decision, nor something you should take lightly, but in some cases it may be essential. You may just have to make the hard choice not to let certain negative influences affect you any more. It could be a choice that preserves the quality of your life.2) Limited association. Spend major time with major influence and minor time with minor influences. 3) Expanding your associations. This is the one I suggest you focus on the most. Find other successful people that you can spend more time with. Invite them to lunch (pick up the tab) and ask them how they have achieved so much or what makes them successful. Now, this is not just about financial success, it can be someone that you want to learn from about having a better marriage, being a better parent, having better health or a stronger spiritual life.It is called association on purpose - getting around the right people by expanding your circle of influence. And when you do that, you will naturally limit the relationships that are holding you back. Give it a try and see for yourself.
This is what I read on the wall of Richie Dayo Johnson, one of my mentor’s office, “Be careful the environment you choose for it will shape you, be careful of the friends you choose for you will become like them” Whoever, you surround yourself with will determine the outcome of your life. Make the choices VERY carefully.
"Dayo Olomu is a UK-based motivational Speaker, Human Potential Developer, Business/Life Coach, Writer, Trainer, Infopreneur, a Competent Leader and an Advance Toastmaster. I replied, “You can use your skill, hobby, interest or talent.”I know most of you will be wondering what I am talking about, but please do indulge me for a few minutes. Multiple Streams of Income (aka MSI) is a concept, which has been adopted by almost all very wealthy people. It is exactly what it says; it is “income from multiple streams.”

MSI is not another job neither is it a better job nor a job. Multiple Streams of Income is other source(s) of income aside your primary source of income. MSI is a way of adding a new dimension of excitement and fun to your everyday life, while you are becoming wealthy. For example my primary source of income is IT Training while my MSI is speaking, writing and coaching. When I write a book and it is resold time and time again in various countries, I have created the perfect MSI. I do the work once but I am paid for it over and over again. Also when I develop a presentation once I can present it over and over again. This allows me more time and space to create more income generating projects.Let me share with you what sort of things I’m personally interested in as far as MSI’s go, incase you may want to create your own interest list. The point here is that I start from my own life and my own interests. This is what I am suggesting you do. I am very interested in MSI’s in the following areas: Information Technology, Selling Information Products and Services, Internet, Publishing, Speaking and Coaching, Organising Events, Artiste Management and Music Promotions.

What are the benefits of MSI? Money comes into your pocket in so many ways; you do not depend on one source of income and thereby you avoid risk. You are practising the art of diversification by not putting all you eggs in one basket, and you are leveraging your time. You can create some products, programs or services only once, and then market them over and over again. The major downsize is that if care is not taken, you will tend to lose focus. Here are the four top general streams of income of most millionaires today: real estate - rental income, home appreciation, proceeds from sales; financial Markets - stocks, bonds, IRAs, CDs, money market accounts, generally any interest income; business - brick and mortar or Internet based and finally general Employment - trading labour for a pay check.

According to one of my teachers, Bob Proctor, “There are three income earning strategies. The first is trading time for money which is by far the worst of the three income earning strategies. It is employed by approximately 96% of our population including doctors, lawyers, accountants, labourers, etc. There is an inherent problem with this strategy – saturation. You run out of time. If a person accumulates any degree of wealth employing this strategy, it will be at the expense of a life. They compromise on the car they drive, the house they live in, the clothes they choose and the vacations they take. They rarely, if ever, get what they want. The second is investing money to earn money: this strategy is used by approximately 3% of the population. The number is small for the obvious reason – very few people have any money to invest. Many people who effectively employ this strategy follow the advice of a trusted, knowledgeable advisor. And lastly, leveraging yourself to earn money: this is where you multiply your time through the efforts of others by setting up Multiple Streams of Income (MSI). This is, without question, the very best way to increase your income.”

Make a decision to have many streams of income; it is the strategy that wealthy people have used dating clearly back to the ancient Babylonians. Unfortunately, this strategy is only used by approximately 1% of our population, yet that 1% earns approximately 96% of all the money that is earned! According to Lao Tze “Find something you like and you will not work for the rest of your life”Your MSI should be as follows: be low-risk, have low time involvement, require low management, demand only low personal energy, require low capitalisation, need high thinking, deliver high service, reward with high personal satisfaction, and must be unique. You can turn your interest, hobby, passion, talent or skill into income stream if you do not have the money to go into real estate, financial market or business.

Here are possible MSI’s to help you decide: give speeches, publish a book, provide marketing materials, proofreading, start an association of achievers, organise an award ceremony, start a networking event, create a website, exporting, tell people how to dress (fashion designing), organise a retreat and get the rights to a product.Make a list of your interests, skills, hobbies, and anything that interests you on a paper. My question to you is, can you turn anyone of them into another income stream? Which one of them can you take action on NOW? Take Action – There are endless possibilities for MSI. Do not procrastinate.

According to Robin Seiger in his book “42 Days to Wealth, Health & Happiness” he said “they procrastinate. Tomorrow, next week, next month, next year and it never comes. So many people wake up one day and discover they are old. And their youthful dreams are gone forever.” Here is my final question to you: would you like to have a stream of income or multiple streams of income? Start today on your journey to financial success and do it the M.S.I way. From our fingerprints to our thoughts pattern, each one of us is a unique creature. Human beings are incredible people, you can turn penny into fortune, you can turn nothing into something. You are endowed with the seeds of greatness.

About the author:
"Dayo Olomu is a UK-based motivational Speaker, Human Potential Developer, Business/Life Coach, Writer, Trainer, Infopreneur, a Competent Leader and an Advance Toastmaster. If she were to be alive she would have been 40 this year.

Gloria was an inspiration to so many people, both in her nursing career and her outstanding medical work on the front line in Iraq and what she achieved in her lifetime was amazing, and it is an honour to be able to raise awareness of leukaemia in her memory. Aside from her dedicated work for the armed forces, Gloria was also a committed fundraiser for worthy causes, and had completed Leukaemia Research's flagship cycling event the London Bikeathon. Gloria's illness was a major shock and prompted all of her friends and family to campaign for greater awareness of leukaemia. Taking on this run is my way of doing my bit to ensure great people like Gloria do not lose their fight against their terrible blood cancers in the future.

I'm aiming to run the marathon in under 5hours and raise £4000. I would like to ask you to help champion this dream by sponsoring my marathon run by visiting www.justgiving.com/olomu. I know we all get lots of people approaching us for support - but this is a massive challenge.

My London marathon mantra is “I will complete the London Marathon in 6 hours with a smile on my face”

Many thanks in advance for your support

Dayo Olomu
