This is true because God has called each person to be an influence to another
directly or indirectly. In the Bible, God said you are the salt of the earth
and at another particular point, he called us light. Salt and light are two key
component needed in life; while salt add value and taste, light gives direction
and guide. And what influences better than that
which adds value and gives direction and guidance?
But amazingly, self-doubt has held so many back from reaching
their potentials. I felt this self-doubt too when I was selected to lead my
colleagues as the founding President of Croydon Communicator Toastmasters in
2003. But, I was quick to ditch my doubts. Leadership is influence and
achieving result with the help of others, nothing more; nothing less. My
question to you today is, who are you influencing and how are you influencing
them? Some leadership skills and behaviors are already present in you. You just
have to learn to tap into them fully.
You don’t need all the leadership skill to become a person of
influence, you only need to recognize and nurture your strength over your
weakness. You can start today by adding value to yourself and doing the right
thing all the time. You never can tell, there may be a little eye seating
quietly somewhere watching and all he wishes to become is you.
