Over the years one question I’ve often been asked is, “Is it possible to live a worry or fear-free life? Everyone: male or female, rich or poor, young or old, at different points in life have something to fear or worry about; fear of change, fear of rejection, fear of the unknown to mention a few. But, the most commonest of all fears is, the fear of failure.
Fear is a natural and normal response to the challenges we face in life. It puts us on alert and tells us there is something to be prepared for. An average person starts out in life with few negative emotions and overtime these emotions are accumulated like souvenirs. And, if left unattended to it can hinder us from attaining our full potential.
So, how do you conquer fears or worries? The best ways to conquer your fear is to face it. It’s better you ‘step up’ to your fears or worries rather than ‘stepping out’ from the race of life through them. First, define clearly what you're afraid of. Ask yourself the possible outcome of any situation you’re faced with, then resolve to do everything possible to make sure that the worst does not happen.
I’ve adopted my mum’s style of conquering her fears and worries. Anytime she’s confronted with fears or worries, she picks up her Bible and recites Psalms. Now the Psalms have a way of comforting me, once I turn my fears and worries to God; I’m confidence He’ll take care of it because He never fails.
